Imaginative storytelling - bulimia

Imaginative storytelling can be used across a variety of purposes, from individual therapy to community building to education.

The video below, titled ‘The wolf inside of me‘, is an illustration of imaginative storytelling in the context of psycho-education. The purpose was to raise awareness about the experience of eating disorders, in this instance bulimia nervosa.

The use of a creative story centred around symbolic imagery enables the experience of bulimia to be brought to life while allowing the listener to project their own meaning onto the symbol of the wolf.
